Ilapro D Capsule 10's belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach.
Ilapro D Capsule 10's is a combination of two drugs: Ilaprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Ilaprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Proton pumps are tiny substances in the stomach lining that help it make acid to digest food. Ilaprazole prevents proton pumps from working properly. This reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes. Domperidone works by increasing the movement of food through the stomach and the digestive tract more quickly and in this way reduces the feeling of bloating, fullness and indigestion. It also blocks messages between parts of your brain called the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and the vomiting centre. This stops you from feeling sick (nauseous) and prevents you from vomiting. Together, Ilapro D Capsule 10's helps treat acidity-related problems.
Take Ilapro D Capsule 10's as prescribed. You are advised to take Ilapro D Capsule 10's for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.
Peptic ulcers: These are sores that develop on the stomach and intestine lining due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Symptoms include nausea, changes in appetite, bloody or dark stools, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, and indigestion.
