About Ilapro D Capsule

Ilapro D Capsule belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach.

Ilapro D Capsule is a combination of two drugs: Ilaprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Ilaprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Proton pumps are tiny substances in the stomach lining that help it make acid to digest food. Ilaprazole prevents proton pumps from working properly. This reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes. Domperidone works by increasing the movement of food through the stomach and the digestive tract more quickly and in this way reduces the feeling of bloating, fullness and indigestion. It also blocks messages between parts of your brain called the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and the vomiting centre. This stops you from feeling sick (nauseous) and prevents you from vomiting. Together, Ilapro D Capsule helps treat acidity-related problems.

Take Ilapro D Capsule as prescribed. You are advised to take Ilapro D Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence, dryness in the mouth, dizziness, and fatigue. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking Ilapro D Capsule if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. Do not take Ilapro D Capsule if you have black, tarry bowel motions; blockage or tear in your intestines, disorder known as phenylketonuria, low potassium, or magnesium level. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking Ilapro D Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ilapro D Capsule may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Ilapro D Capsule should not be given to children below 12 years of age. Avoid consuming alcohol and Ilapro D Capsule as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

Directions for Use

Take Ilapro D Capsule 15 to 30 minutes before food or as advised by the doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or crush it.

Do not take Ilapro D Capsule if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have black, tarry bowel motions, blockage or tear in your intestines, a tumor of the pituitary gland called a prolactinoma, have a disorder known as phenylketonuria. Inform your doctor before taking Ilapro D Capsule if you have AIDS/HIV, stomach tumor, kidney, heart, or liver disease. Do not take Ilapro D Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Ilapro D Capsule may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Ilapro D Capsule should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Ilapro D Capsule as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. Stop taking Ilapro D Capsule and inform your doctor if you notice heart rhythm disorders such as palpitations, or trouble breathing.  Inform your doctor about all your ongoing medications used to treat fungal infections, bacterial infections, high blood pressure medication, depression medications, AIDS/HIV medications.

Ilapro D Capsule is a combination of two drugs, namely: Ilaprazole and Domperidone. Ilaprazole works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for acid production. Domperidone works by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscles. Together, Ilapro D Capsule helps in treating acidity related problems.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Ilapro D Capsule . Drink enough fluids and eat fibre rich food if you experience diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if you experience excessive diarrhoea or if you find blood in stools.

Avoid lying down immediately after meals to prevent acid reflux. Raise the head of the bed 10-20cm by putting a pillow so that the head and chest are above the waist. This helps in preventing acid reflux.

Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Ilapro D Capsule . Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might stimulate saliva and prevent drying of the mouth.

Do not take Ilapro D Capsule for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve even after taking Ilapro D Capsule for 7 days.
