About Esocid-D Capsule
Esocid-D Capsule belongs to a group of gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and stomach ulcers. The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, acidity, peptic ulcers and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Esocid-D Capsule is a combination of two drugs: Esomeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Esomeprazole works by blocking an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for the production of acid Domperidone works by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscle. Together, Esocid-D Capsule helps in treating acidity-related problems.
You are advised to take Esocid-D Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Consult your doctor before taking Esocid-D Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Esocid-D Capsule may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Esocid-D Capsule should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol and Esocid-D Capsule as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side-effects.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): It occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.
Stomach/Peptic ulcers: They are sores that develop on the stomach and intestine lining due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Symptoms include nausea, appetite changes, bloody or dark stools, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, and indigestion.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: It is characterised by the formation of tumours in the upper part of the small intestine, which leads to excess acid production. Symptoms include bloating, burping, weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
