Phenate Injection 1 ml belongs to a group of medicines called 'antipsychotics/neuroleptics,' primarily used to treat psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental condition in which the person may feel, hear or see things that are not there (hallucinations), believe things that are not true, and feel unusually suspicious or confused.
Phenate Injection 1 ml contains 'Fluphenazine' that belongs to the class of phenothiazines. It works by affecting the balance of the neurotransmitters in the brain. Thereby, Phenate Injection 1 ml decreases psychotic symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, and hostility (unfriendly or opposed behaviour) associated with schizophrenia. Phenate Injection 1 ml is intended for use in the management of patients requiring prolonged parenteral antipsychotic therapy.
Your doctor will decide the dose and duration based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Common side effects of Phenate Injection 1 ml include lethargy/tiredness, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, constipation, stuffy nose, sweating, weight changes, and pain/redness/swelling at the injection site.
