ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER
About
ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER is an antimalarial medicine used in the treatment of malaria. Malaria is a parasitic disease caused due to the plasmodium species. The infection occurs when the infective female Anopheles mosquito bites. Symptoms may include chills, on-and-off fever, and sweating. This medicine is only used to treat the infection but does not prevent or use it for severe conditions (where the infection is spread to the brain, kidneys, or lungs). ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER is also used to manage chloroquine-resistant malaria.
ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER contains Alpha Beta Arteether, which belongs to the class of antimalarial/ antiparasitic drugs. It works by increasing the harmful toxic, and highly reactive free radicals in the blood. This kills the parasite and stops the infection from spreading. In this way, ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER is used for the prevention of relapse of malaria caused by plasmodium species.
ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER may cause certain side effects such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, body pain, stomach discomfort, and injection site reactions. These side effects usually disappear without any medical attention. However, if these side effects persist, inform your doctor immediately. ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER is a parenteral medicine. A healthcare professional will administer it, hence do not self-administer. Your doctor will decide the dose of the medicine based on the severity of your disease.
ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have/had any liver/kidney disease, heart problem, or taking any other medicines before receiving ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER to avoid interactions. This medication should be used with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women since it may affect the fetus and newborns. ALPHA BETA ARTEETHER is only suggested for use in children if prescribed by a paediatrician and if taken with adequate care and dose. This medication is used to treat malaria either alone or in combination with other medications.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Malaria: It is a life-threatening parasitic disease caused due to the mosquito bite. When the mosquito bites, the plasmodium parasite enters the body, multiplies in the liver, spread via the bloodstream and thus causes the infection by releasing toxic chemicals. Four types of plasmodium parasites can infect humans with malaria: Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium ovale, and Plasmodium malaria. Symptoms may include chills, on-and-off fever, sweating, vomiting, etc.
