Beclometasone
About
Beclometasone belongs to a class of medications called “Corticosteroids” used to treat inflammation in the body due to various illnesses. It is used to treat Ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is a type of chronic inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation of the large intestine lining (colon). It produces ulcers on the colon's lining, which may cause bleeding and discharge of pus and mucus.
Beclometasone contains 'Beclometasone’ that works by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain that is responsible for causing inflammation and pain. Thereby, it reduces inflammation in the colon, which could otherwise make the condition worse and it also helps to reduce inflammation in various diseases.
Take Beclometasone as prescribed. You are recommended to take Beclometasone for as long as your doctor has advised it for you. Common side effects include constipation, nausea, headache, stomach pain, flu-like illness, fever and sleepiness. Most of the side effects of Beclometasone do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist and worsen, consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Beclometasone or any other medicines or have an intolerance to some sugars, please tell your doctor before taking Beclometasone. If you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy, or breastfeeding, consult a doctor. Beclometasone is usually not recommended for children. Drive only if you are alert after taking Beclometasone as it may cause drowsiness in some patients. If you have blurred vision or any other vision disturbances while taking Beclometasone, please consult your doctor. If you are taking Beclometasone for more than 3 weeks, your doctor may advise you to always carry a steroid warning card. If you experience any signs of mental problems while taking Beclometasone, talk to your doctor immediately.
