About Benzoic Acid+menthol+salicylic Acid
Benzoic Acid+menthol+salicylic Acid is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat eczema, psoriasis, skin irritation and inflammation caused by burns, insect bites, and fungal infections. This medicine is also indicated for treating acne. Eczema is a condition in which skin patches become inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough. Some eczema types can also lead to blisters (a small bubble on the skin filled with serum and caused by friction, burning, or other damage). Psoriasis is a skin disorder in which skin cells multiply 10 times faster than usual, leading to skin build-up into bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales. These commonly appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin. Acne is a common skin condition and occurs when hair follicles are blocked with dead skin cells and oil.
Benzoic Acid+menthol+salicylic Acid is a combination medicine that contains Salicylic acid, Menthol and Benzoic acid. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin), which breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. Salicylic acid is also an anti-inflammatory agent and topical antibacterial agent. It treats acne and seborrhea (scaly patches and red skin mainly on the scalp) and removes corns, calluses, and warts. Menthol is also known as a counterirritant (lessens discomfort and/or inflammation of the skin) that acts by causing cooling and a warm sensation in the skin. This coolness and warmth distract a person from the aches/pains deeper in the skin. Benzoic acid is a fungistatic/antiseptic agent and works by inhibiting the growth of fungi. It is also used as an antimicrobial preservative and tablet and capsule lubricant.
