Choline Fenofibrate
About
Choline Fenofibrate belongs to the class of medicines called antilipemic agents primarily used to lower bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Also, it increases good cholesterol levels. High cholesterol, known as hyperlipidaemia or dyslipidaemia, occurs when there is an unhealthy balance of cholesterol in the blood. When the cholesterol level is high in the blood, your arteries get narrowed and clogged which contributes to heart diseases like stroke and heart attack.
Choline Fenofibrate contains choline fenofibrate that works by stimulating the action of lipoprotein lipase (enzyme) which breaks down LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Also, it increases the levels of good cholesterol. Thus, Choline Fenofibrate helps lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol levels.
Take Choline Fenofibrate as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Choline Fenofibrate for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Some people may experience stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or flatulence (gas). Most of these side effects of Choline Fenofibrate do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Choline Fenofibrate or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before taking Choline Fenofibrate. Avoid consumption of alcohol with Choline Fenofibrate as it may increase the risk of muscle problems. Avoid taking Choline Fenofibrate if you have liver disease, including high levels of certain liver enzymes. If you get unexplained cramps or weak/painful/tender muscles, avoid taking Choline Fenofibrate and consult a doctor immediately.

Patients Concern
Disease/Condition Glossary
Hyperlipidaemia: It is also known as high cholesterol or dyslipidaemia occurs when there is an excess of the unhealthy balance of cholesterol in the blood. When there is a high level of cholesterol in the blood, your arteries get narrowed and clogged which contributes to heart diseases like stroke and heart attack. Eating high-fat or high-cholesterol containing food/drinks and genetic factors are the primary causes of high cholesterol. There are two types of cholesterol found in our body, namely, good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein) and bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein). Good cholesterol is good for our heart and helps in reducing the bad cholesterol in our body. Excess bad cholesterol (LDL) leads to the risk of heart diseases like heart attack and stroke.
