Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose
About Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose
Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose belongs to ophthalmic medications used to treat dryness of the eyes. Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose acts as artificial tear. Dry eye is a common condition that occurs when tears are unable to provide sufficient moisture. The symptoms include redness, pain, burning sensation, blurred vision, discomfort in the eye, watery eyes, difficulty reading or sitting in front of the computer for a long time or eyes getting tired faster than usual.
Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a combination of two lubricants, namely: Dextran and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose works by forming a lubricating, transparent and moistening film on the cornea (surface of the eye) and is used as artificial tears. Thereby, it provides a soothing effect and relieves irritation and dryness caused by decreased tear flow.
Use Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose as prescribed by your doctor. Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose for as long as your doctor has prescribed it based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience blurred vision, abnormal sensation in the eyes, eyelid problem, discomfort or feeling of something in the eye. Most of these side effects of Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor. Drive only if your vision is clear as Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. If you experience eye pain, changes in vision or continued irritation or redness of the eye, avoid using Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and consult a doctor. You are recommended to maintain a time gap of 5 minutes between using Dextran+hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and other eye medicines.
