Iopamidol
About Iopamidol
Iopamidol belongs to the class of diagnostic agents. It is a non-ionic radiopaque contrast media used for angiography procedures throughout the cardiovascular procedures. Angiography is a diagnostic procedure used to diagnose and evaluate the heart condition. Iopamidol is also used in cerebral and peripheral arteriography, coronary arteriography, pediatric angiocardiography, Phlebography, and contrast enhancement of computed tomographic (CECT) Head and Body Imaging.
Iopamidol contains Iopamidol as an active ingredient, which is a radiopaque contrast media. It opacifies the vessels in the path of flow of the contrast medium, thereby visualizing the internal structures of the human body.
Iopamidol may cause certain side effects, such as cough, abdominal cramps, flushing, confusion, chest pain, chest tightness, dizziness, muscle spasms, and pain at the site of injection. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Iopamidol is a parenteral preparation. A healthcare professional will administer Iopamidol if any procedure is planned.
Before administration, inform your doctor if you have liver/kidney disease, cardiac disorders, bleeding disorders, thyroid disorders, multiple myeloma, diabetes, or respiratory conditions. It is unknown whether Iopamidol is suitable for use in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Hence, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, are planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding beforehand.
