Metadoxine
About
Metadoxine belongs to the group of medicines known as antioxidants. It is primarily used to treat alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcohol intoxication (disturbance in mental function or behaviour during or after alcohol consumption). Alcoholic liver disease describes medical conditions and their corresponding symptoms which develop due to liver damage caused by alcohol misuse and abuse. When the disease arises, it may not lead to any symptoms in the early times until the individual’s liver has undergone widespread damage.
Metadoxine contains metadoxine, which is an antioxidant. Metadoxine works by preventing the liver from harmful chemical substances. It enhances the elimination of alcohol from blood and tissues, which leads to faster recovery from alcohol intoxication, hence preventing liver damage.
Take Metadoxine as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Metadoxine for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical conditions. You may experience nausea, diarrhoea, and upset stomach. Most of these side effects of Metadoxine do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Metadoxine should not be taken in conditions like if you are allergic to Metadoxine or other ingredients. Please inform your doctor if you have any allergies, liver or kidney problems, are pregnant or planning for pregnancy or breastfeeding. You are recommended to avoid the consumption of alcohol with Metadoxine as it may interact with Metadoxine. The doctor will decide on the right dose of the drug after checking the severity of the condition. Do not increase or reduce the dose without asking a doctor.
