Buserelin

About Buserelin

Buserelin belongs to the group of medicines called gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues indicated in the treatment of prostate cancer in men who have not had testicles removed by surgery. Prostate cancer is a cancer that occurs in the man’s prostate gland.

Buserelin contains Buserelin, a hormone therapy drug which works by reducing the production of testosterone and helps to stop the growth of cancer cells.

In some cases, Buserelin may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, diarrhoea, and constipation. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, if any of the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Let the doctor know if you are allergic to any of the components in Buserelin. Buserelin is not intended for use in women. Inform your doctor about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions. It is critical not to father a kid while on this medication and for several months thereafter. This medication has the potential to harm a baby growing in the womb. Before beginning therapy, consult with your healthcare professional about effective contraception. While using this medication, you may have dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. If this occurs, do not drive or operate any tools or machinery.

Uses of Buserelin

Prostate cancer

Medicinal Benefits

Buserelin belongs to the group of medicines called gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues indicated in the treatment of prostate cancer who have not had testicles removed by surgery. Buserelin contains Buserelin, a type of hormone therapy known as a luteinising hormone blocker. It works by preventing the pituitary gland from releasing luteinising hormone. This prevents the testicles from producing testosterone, which is required by the prostate gland to grow. By reducing testosterone, Buserelin shrinks and prevents the growth of prostate cancer.
